SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister Bindo M Lanong has asserted that there was no political agenda behind his effort to restore the water supply by ensuring immediate repair of the main reservoir at Wah Risa stream, Malki.

Lanong, while reacting to a report published in The Shillong Times on July 7, said, “The phrase ‘political interest’ which was used in the news report is totally misleading.”

He also claimed that he was the first to rush to the damaged site at Malki-Laitkor forest and not the Minister in-charge Municipal Administration, Ampareen Lyngdoh, as mentioned in the report. Moreover, he denied to have said that the repair work would be completed within three weeks.
