TGCSU to picket offices from today

 TURA: The Tura Government College Students Union (TGCSU) is going ahead with its two-day office picketing, beginning from Monday, to press upon the government for fulfillment of its various demands including development of the college.

The two-day picketing from 9 am to 5 pm will cover the office of the Additional Director of Higher and Technical Education, Tura, MBOSE headquarters and the Tura Government College itself.

The Union has been demanding appointment of a full-fledged principal and vice-principal for the college, creation and filling up of vacant teachers’ posts, introduction of honours in geography and the inclusion of new subjects in the college curriculum, enhancement of post-matric scholarship, construction of boundary walls to demarcate the institute’s land and construction of a gallery in the college.

AYWO Ampati unit formed: The A’chik Youth Welfare Organization (AYWO) recently formed its Ampati unit to cover the areas under main Ampati, Garobadha, Garoduba, Betasing, Salmanpara, Kalaichar, Zikzak, Nogorpara, Mahendraganj, Gopinath Killa, Rangsakona and Monabari.

The new unit members will look into the welfare and developmental issues of the people of the area.

The Ampati unit was formed with Jakarious M Marak as president, Demi Ch Marak and Walden Ch Marak as vice presidents, Tirot Ch Marak as general secretary, Mikseng Ch Marak as assistant general secretary and Bijansing D Sangma as chief organizing secretary.

Four other members were appointed sectional secretaries and another six made executive members.

New NCP Youth leaders: The NCP has appointed Brilliant N Sangma as the new working president of the Nationalist Youth Congress of West Garo Hills district committee and Tarzan Koch as the vice president.

Vanamahotsava at Sadolpara: The Department of Forest and Environment Social Forestry Range, Dadenggre organized Vanamahotsava at Sadolpara, within Dadenggre Sub-Division at the Balading Trinity School in collaboration with IPTAC and the students of Sadolpara Secondary School on July 8.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, PK. Sangma, CEM, GHADC, said the people were very lucky that they could still enjoy the pleasures of nature, but in return take it for granted.

Speaking at the occasion, PK Boro, BDO, Dadenggre, said that man has a relation with nature. Boro urged children to grow trees and to prevent anyone who wished to harm them.

Mrs MJ Sangma, DFO, Social Forestry, Tura, also spoke on the occasion.
