SHILLONG: The Eastern Air Command (EAC) has accepted the State Government’s proposal to construct a modern helipad at Upper Shillong.
Informing this here on Monday, the State Transport Minister AT Mondal said, “The proposed helipad will have fuel stations besides sitting place for the passengers and other facilities.
It may be mentioned that the Indian Air Force already has a helipad at Upper Shillong.
“Now we are working on the estimates and other details of the project,” Mondal said.
Commenting on the new chopper services in the State following suspension of Pawan Hans service, the Minister said, “we will consult with an agency which will look into the various details before going for a new chopper service.”
Meghalaya government suspended the Pawan Hans helicopter service soon after the chopper carrying then Arunachal Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu met with an accident.
The state government has already written to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to float a tender for a helicopter service in the State.
