Land customs station in Mizoram soon

AIZAWL: Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla on Tuesday said Union Commerce Minister Anand Sharma would inaugurate the Land Customs Station at Mizoram-Myanmar border Zokhawthar village soon so that the Indo-Myanmar border trade centre there would be functional.

Intervening during question hour in the state assembly, Lal Thanhawla said that the land customs station was already completed, but was yet to be commissioned as Sharma was invited to inaugurate the station.

He said that due to recent Chinese projects in Myanmar and other places of South East Asia, Indian Air Force would establish Air Force Radar Station in Lunglei district and would also make arrangements for deployment of combat aircraft at the lone Lengpui airport near Aizawl. Replying to a query from the ruling Congress member John Siamkunga, Trade and Commerce Minister Lalrinliana Sailo said the ‘Facilitation Centre’ for Indo-Bangladesh border trade at the proposed Tlabung border trade has been completed and a 65 bigha land handed over to the Union Home Ministry for construction of an Integrated Check Post at Kawrpuichhuah.
