More arrest in police fund scam

SHILLONG: Another policeman has been arrested in connection with the missing of around Rs 28 lakh from the Police Welfare Fund. Havildar Sanbor Swett was arrested on Monday for allegedly destroying documents relating to the Police Welfare Fund. Earlier, Sub-Inspector MR Kharphuli was arrested in the case just two days before his retirement recently. “We have also questioned one more police constable in the case,” a senior police official said on Tuesday. The irregularities were detected when Kharpuli was handing over the charge before retirement.
