Mid day meal for upper primary school students

 SHILLONG: In move to bring more schools under the purview of Mid day meal (MDM) Scheme, the Meghalaya Government- aided Upper Primary Schools in the state will be covered under the Mid Day Meal (MDM) Scheme.

This was informed the DC (Supply), East Khasi Hills district.

It may be mentioned that earlier the MDM Scheme was limited to all Government and Government Aided Primary Schools including EGS Centres, only.

The MDM Scheme involves provision of lunch free of cost to school children on all working days. The key objectives of the programme is to protect children from classroom hunger, increasing school enrolment and attendance, improved socialization among children belonging to all castes, addressing malnutrition and social empowerment through provision of employment to women.

In order to check that no child goes without meals on school days, it is informed that any disruptions regarding feeding MDM should be brought immediately to the notice of DC, Supply, Shillong to resolve such disruptions gets checked at the earliest possible.
