ITANAGAR:Department of Karmik and Adhyatmik (Chos-Rig) Affairs of the Arunachal Pradesh Government chairman has called for bringing radical changes in the present education system for qualitative improvement among students.

He stressed on the need for bringing policy changes in education, and added that despite making advancement in different spheres, there existed certain loopholes in the system.

Rinpoche, a former Arunachal Pradesh minister, while lamenting that the parents were paying less attention towards students under the present schooling system, said class based education should be discontinued and a single school be established for students of a particular locality as in the western countries.

”This could revolutionise the education in the country,” he opined.

Briefing about the traditional Bhoti language of the Buddhist community, he said Bhoti is the only language in Arunachal Pradesh to have its own script, and the government has decided to introduce Bhoti as third language in schools from Class 1 to VIII from the next academic session.

Presently, it will be introduced in Buddhist dominated districts like Tawang, West Kameng and other Buddhist inhabited areas like Mechuka and Tuting, bordering China, he said while addressing a Press conference here today.

He further said that at present there were around 136 teachers in Bhoti language, out of whom 36 were aided under the GOI scheme while the rest by the state government.

Bhoti, which has its origin in ancient Tibet, was scripted by Thomisam bhota in the seventh century and was widely practised by Tibetans before the Chinese occupation in 1959. Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy in New Delhi has agreed to issue visas to karatekas from Arunachal Pradesh, who will represent India in the 11th Asian Karate-do Championship (Junior and Cadet) to be held at Quanghou City in Fujjian province from July 20 to 25.

The embassy authorities took the decision after a prolonged discussion with Indian authorities, Arunachal Karate-do Association general secretary Langkung Marik said in a statement on Monday. (Agencies)

A five-member team from the state with three karatekas left for New Delhi today to join the 35-member Indian contingent for the global event, Marik said.

The karatekas from the state include Likha Lej (52 kg cadet boys), Tage Saa (65 kg junior boys) and Rei Yadi (53 kg junior girls).

Ignoring strong protest by India against the issue of stapled visas to the people of J&K, China in fact had expanded its stapled visa regime to Arunachal Pradesh last January when the visas were issued to two Arunchalees – Indian Weightlifting Federation’s joint secretary Abraham K Techi along with a noted Arunchalee weightlifter.
