Shillong: Three Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants on Sunday surrendered in Meghalaya’s South Garo Hills district following pressure from security forces, a police official said. The militants — Sonaram R Marak, Changke R Marak and Tekrok N Sangma — surrendered before the police officials at Baghmara police station, police said. However, the militants did not deposit any arms or ammunition. ”The militants have surrendered due to the combing operations against them,” a police official said. A combined team of State Police, CRPF’s Combat Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) commandos and BSF jawans, are on a massive operation to flush out GNLA militants. (UNI)
