TURA: The ruling Congress in the GHADC got a further boost of its strength in the 30-member House with the joining of two rebel NCP MDCs into its fold. The MDCs – Lahit Sangma of Samanda and Cherak Momin of Kharkutta, – both hailing from East Garo Hills constituencies deserted PA Sangma’s NCP to join hands with the ruling Congress consolidating the Dr Mukul Sangma government in the district council affairs of the state. They were sworn in at Congress Bhawan here on Monday afternoon in the presence of the Chief Minister and GHADC CEM PK Sangma.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman of the GHADC and NCP MDC, WD Shira, of Chokpot Rongrikkimgre has stepped down from the council post citing stability for the present executive committee headed by the Congress.
