SHILLONG: The executive committee of Dorbar Shnong Greater Keating Road (DSGKR) has expressed concern over the formation of another ‘Dorbar’ in the locality— Durbar Pyllun Keating Road.

The executive committee of DSGKR at the office of the Dorbar at Ferndale Complex on July 22.

The DSGKR in a press note said that two meetings organized by Dorbar Pyllun and Keating Road Welfare Organization (KRWO) with ‘indigenous residents held at Iaki-Tori Complex confused people.

The press note said the KRWO on July 17 said only about its meeting but there was no mention about Dorbar meeting although the same was held prior to the other. “It may be worth mentioning that meetings or elections of such important traditional Dorbars are never convened or held on Sundays (Sngi u Blei) and non-residing landowners cannot partake in the affairs of any authentic traditional institution,” said the release.

The DSGKR alleged that the bulk of the attendants in the meeting comprised mainly of non-tribal residents who were not aware of any formation of another Dorbar.

“The so called Dorbar Pyllun and the selection of its executive members are also highly questionable since there was just a handful of representation of indigenous residents eligible to vote in the meeting. Surprisingly, the elected Rangbah Shnong was also elected as President of KRWO in the organization’s meeting that followed,” the DSGKR release said.

The DSGKR is the only authorized Dorbar with RD Blah as the duly elected Rangbah Shnong acknowledged by Syiem of Hima Mylliem, the release said.
