MTC plea to passengers

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Transport Corporation, keeping in view cases of conductors not issuing tickets to passengers of the newly-introduced State Public Transport Service (SPTS) buses, has urged the passengers to insist on getting the tickets. In a statement issued here on Friday, Managing Director of the MTC, SN Marak said, “Anyone found travelling without ticket will be liable to pay a fine of Rs 50 in addition to the fare for the journey.” The MTC has also urged the commuters to tender exact change, maintain cleanliness and avoid spitting and rubbing lime inside the buses.
