Naga legendary lovers’ place to come up as tourist spot

KOHIMA:The Alungma Legendary Tourism Club members of Mongchen villagers under Mokokchung district has decided to renovate the historical Alungma, located on the eastern part of Mongchen village, to attract tourists.The spot is a place of long stay of two legendary lovers called Jena and Etiben.Sources said Etiben was the most beautiful woman in then Ao country from Mopungchuket village. She had fallen in love with one Jena from the same village.

Once upon a time, these two lovers lived on the same spot called Alungma now at Mongchen village.

There is a family of stones signifying a son, stone bed, looking glass, stone of homesickness, a blind Mithun of stone and many other distinct marks on the stones such as the footprints of Jena and Etiben, flower cutting stand, sitting prints, spear marks of Jena.

Next to Alungma, there is another historical stone called Nuksu Lung (tear shedding Stone) that can be seen from Asetkong and Langpangkong ranges.

Different color of tears signifies different meaning that sheds from the stone time to time.

Convener of the club R Wati Pongen, in a press release, said the members of the Alungma Legendary Tourism Club of Mongchen villagers along with the Village Council members, Mongchen Baptist Church, Youth Department and members from Mokokchung town dedicated earmarked the spot for further development recently to attract more tourists.Alungma Legendary Tourism Club is a registered society and the Club of Mongchen villager is frantically trying to develop this project with commitment.
