‘Rapist’ cop surrenders

By Our Reporter

SHILLONG: More than three months after going on an ‘unauthorised leave’, the rape accused policeman SN Roy surrendered before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) here on Friday evening.

The sub-inspector then attached to Rynjah police station along with some of his accomplices had allegedly raped a 14-year-old school girl at a city hotel on March 17 this year.

Superintendent of Police (City) M Kharkrang while confirming the surrender of the absconding policeman said the court has remanded him in 14 days’ judicial custody.

“We will be praying to the court to hand him over to police custody so that we can interrogate him further,” Kharkrang said on Friday.

Earlier, the court had rejected the bail application of the accused policeman.

A non-bailable warrant was issued against Roy, now under suspension, as he went missing since April 13.
