Rio emphasises on self employment through hard work

Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has emphasised the need for self employment through hard work as it’s not possible for the Government to provide white collar jobs to all educated youths.

Speaking at the inauguration of Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Khensa village under Mokokchung district yesterday, Mr Rio called the people to take the responsibility in making the atmosphere conducive. He also said that the ISBT at Mokokchung would serve not just the NST but also the private operators.

He also called the people to make the travellers and passengers comfortable by introducing various services like taxi and other amenities.

On the NEC funded Rs 7.50 crore multi-storied ISBT in Mokokchung, he said that the people should view it as an employment opportunity for the youth.

He also expressed hope that through this ISBT, communication will be better and tourism will boom.

Rio also sought the active cooperation from the public in maintaining public assets created by the government saying that such assets are for the welfare and benefits of the people.

He urged for the full utilisation of the potential of this ISBT and wished that travelling be made a pleasure to the weary travelers.

Advisor, Planning of North East Council (NEC) J Lhungdim, in his speech, said NEC was granting fund for construction of ISBT in North East.

He said Sikkim has made remarkable achievements in construction of ISBT followed by Nagaland.

Mr Lhungdim assured that NEC would continue to provide fund to the state to expedite the overall development of the state.

Parliamentary Secretary, Transport and Mechanical Engineering Dako Phom, who was the guest of honour at the inaugural function, said ISBT Mokokchung is the second ISBT in the state after Dimapur and the third ISBT in Kohima would soon be completed while the fourth ISBT in Tuensang is progressing well.

The inaugural function was chaired by Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla G Ghishi was attended by Home Minister Imkong L Imchen, Dr Chumben Murry, Minister for Agriculture, MLA Nuklutoshi and MLA Toshipokba and senior Government officials. (UNI)
