Locarno (Switzerland): Internationally acclaimed Indian actor Kabir Bedi is ready to become a filmmaker and says his first production venture, “Final Promise”, will be about reincarnation.
“I am producing ‘Final Promise’. It is an Indian film, but it is going to be for an international market, so I regard it as an international film. I’m also looking at the possibility of doing a co-production with Canada for another script which I liked a lot,” Bedi told IANS at the ongoing 64th Locarno International Film Festival.
The 65-year-old, who joined the film industry to become a filmmaker, has no regrets about fulfilling his long cherished dream after so many decades in the industry.
“I was seduced by acting,” said the actor, who initially worked with advertising agency Lintas and then went on to do Indian and international acting assignments.
“I had a fabulous time in my journey as an actor. My acting journey took me to Bollywood, Europe and other parts of the world. I worked in the film industry and I have been to some fantastic places and have met some incredible people. I hope it all comes together for the production of ‘Final Promise’,” he said.
What about directing his first production venture?
“I’m open on the issue of directing it. I could direct it in my sleep as I have written it. It’s a theme of reincarnation. It’s a completely Indian story with Indian actors… It may have one foreign actor but not in a major role. It’s an Indian story with a universal appeal,” said the actor. (IANS)
