All is well in State Cong, says Lapang

New Delhi: Former Chief Minister DD Lapang, who recently made peace with Dr Mukul Sangma over the leadership issue in the State, on Friday, claimed that the party was working unitedly in the State.

During a meeting with AICC leaders Oscar Fernandes, Dr Dhaniram Shandil and Sanjay Bapna here on Friday, Lapang asserted that the Congress is gaining from strength to strength in the State. “The differences have been sorted out and there is no problem in the party or Government now,” he claimed.

Lapang, who arrived at a mega patch-up deal with the Chief Ministers following the mediation of the AICC leaders recently ending months of dissidence and impasses in the State, also assured the party leaders that ‘things were on track’ in the State.

Lapang, who is also chairman of the North East Congress Committee, met Union DoNER Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar and discussed issues related to development of the State and the region. He also urged Ghatowar to extend all support to the NECC.

Sonia’s health

Meanwhile, Lapang during his meeting with the AICC leaders, wished for speedy recovery and good health of Congress president Sonia Gandhi who is recuperating after her surgery in the USA recently.

In his message to Sonia, which he forwarded through Oscar Fernandes, Lapang said, “The NECC prays to the Almighty to give her health and strength to lead the nation.” Lapang, who arrived here on Tuesday, would return back to the State on Saturday.
