Black flag day on August 19

 SHILLONG: The Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) along with the Rangbah Shnongs of the various localities in Ri-Bhoi district will observe a black flag day to protest the State Government’s decision to accord scheduled tribe status to people belonging to Marngar community on August 19.

Informing this after a meeting held at Umsning on Friday, the RBYF general secretary LK Sawkmie said they have also decided to write to Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner to stop issuing ST certificates to the people of Marngar community.

Earlier, several NGOs of the State including KSU, JSU,FKJGP, HNYF besides other group had demanded immediate scrapping of the order.
