Meghalaya Police bomb squad with mine detectors trying to determine the status of a suspicious looking bundle found under the Dhankheti Bridge at around 8 am on the 15th Aug morning. Kudos to the alertness of the police on anything that threatens the peace and security of the city and its people. What is alarming and of concern however is the apparent casualness of approach to the suspected object. None of the bomb squad had any protective clothing nor were protective measures being taken. It is learnt that the object was also handled in an utterly careless and sloppy manner. If an explosion had taken place and if the bomb was designed to cause maximum damage within a 50 meter radius the MLP would have been minus 8 of its best.
