JOWAI: The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) has called a 24 hour bandh starting from 7 pm of August 25 till 7 pm of August 26 in protest against the government’s failures to fulfill its demands including setting up of a Blood Bank, MBoSE Cell and MPSC Cell in Jaintia Hills District.

Speaking to media persons here, the JSU President, Elnathan Pale informed that the government has tried to fool the people of Jaintia Hills District.

“The Government is still silent on the MBoSE Cell and Blood Bank issue”, he said. Leader of the JSU informed that four months ago, a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister to which there was no response.

This attitude has forced the JSU to declare series agitation program in the District, but later was called off as the Chief Minister had written to the leaders of the JSU stating that the issue taken by the JSU are genuine and the government has taken serious measures to fulfill all demands.

The Government has publicly announce that the MPSC cell has been set up in Jaintia Hills, but the fact revealed that the setting up of the MPSC Cell in the District was only in papers, the JSU alleged.
