Landslide hit Kohima
Kohima: Hit by landslides, crippled Kohima is trying to get back to normalcy, three days after major landslides occurred on NH 29.
”Two bulldozers have been engaged in clearing the debris at two points –one at the checkpost and the other about two kilometers beyond towards Jharnapani,” official sources said.
It would take one week at least to make the road safe enough, the sources added.
Vehicles coming from Kohima and vice-versa are allowed to cross only at regular intervals to allow safe passage, the sources said.
The mobile networks were also affected due to the landslides.
According to BSNL sources, the optical fibre line was snapped on Saturday, which could not be repaired on Sunday due to ongoing restoration works by JCBs (Bulldozers) in various landslide points. (UNI)
Drugs seized
Guwahati: Hunge quantity of drugs allegedly bound for Dimapur in Nagaland have been seized by Government Railway Police at Guwahati railway station here.
Official sources said huge quantity of Brasmol Procyclene, used by students, were seized from a compartment of the New Delhi-Dibrugarh Brahmputra mail when the train reached the station at noon.
The drugs were kept in a trunk and two huge bags under a seat of the train. Two persons, both residents of neighbouring Manipur, were arrested in this connection. (PTI)
INC approves Nursing College for Nagaland
Kohima: The Indian Nursing Council (INC) has approved setting up of a Nursing College at the Christian Institute of Health Science and Research (CIHSR) here.
According to official sources here on Wednesday, the INC had approved 30 seats for General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course and 20 seats for the Post Basic Bachelor of Science (PBBSc) course. The admission into these courses would commence as soon as approval is received from the Assam Nurses Midwives and Health Visitors Council and the admission procedure would be announced in due time.
