NONGSTOIN: The KSU’s Mawshynrut unit has threatened to launch agitation if the government fails to appoint a doctor at Shallang PHC immediately.

The Shallang PHC has been functioning without a doctor for the last one year.

According to the KSU unit president Sranly Rongrin, after the transfer of Dr Khongkliang in May 2010, no doctor has come to this PHC and people of the area facing a lot of problems and to get a birth certificate signed they have to go to Riangdo, 38km from Shallang PHC.

According to him, on June 2011 the Health Department had deputed Dr Tylli Syiem to take charge of the Shallang PHC but till date he has not joined his duty.

Urging the Health Minister Rowell Lyngdoh to look into the matter, the KSU unit has threatened to launch agitation if the Health Department fails to respond to its demand.
