SHILLONG: The State police have sought the custody of an accused who was arrested in Nagaland with Mahindra Bolero bearing Meghalaya registration number.

Police informed that the accused identified as Nobi Singh from Manipur was arrested in Nagaland after trying to mislead the police by producing documents which does not belong to the vehicle he was driving.

According to police, Singh had purchase the Bolero from one Jabar Khan, adding that Singh had agreed to pay Rs 4.25 lakh for the vehicle but finally paid only Rs 2 lakh.

“We have been informed that the vehicle documents which he had produced before the Nagaland police is of one RD Ramsiej. The Bolero which he had purchased bears a different registration number,” police said.

However, the police suspect that Singh was trying to misuse the Meghalaya registration number while committing crime in Manipur.Police further informed that he (Singh) had filed an FIR at Sadar police station about the lost of the documents of four vehicles.

“We are feeling that even the FIR which he had filed has no truth in it,” police added.
