Kohima: The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Frontal Business Organisation met on August 20 and deliberated on the chronic extortion activities in Dimapur and asked the ‘underground organisations’ to rein in their cadres.
A statement highlighting the decisions taken during the meeting was received here from the DCCI president Hokivi Chishi who said here on Monday the two organisations unanimously asked the various Naga underground organisations to check the rampant illegal collections of money by its cadres for personal benefit in the name of their respective organizations.
The two organisations also asked the rebel groups to instate a ‘strong system of checks and balances’ to ensure that the ‘collectors’ refrain from collecting the same ‘taxes’ over and again.
”With the coming of the festive season, the DCCI also resolved to appeal to the various organisations to check members of their rank and file who collect donations in their own individual capacity, thereby causing undue harassment to the business community,” the statement said.
Nagaland Transport Secy passes away
Nagaland State Transport Secretary N Hangsing Nguljakai died of pancreatic cancer at the GNRC Hospital at Guwahati on Sunday. He was 54.
He had served as Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire and Phek and Additional Secretary, Forest, the Government of Nagaland.
His body was brought to Dimapur by road and would proceed to his native village, Molvom, where a funeral service was held at 2 pm. (UNI)
