SHILLONG: College teachers under the banner of the Meghalaya College Teachers’ Association (MCTA) on Tuesday decided to continue their agitation as their discussion with the Director of Higher and Technical Education held on Monday failed.

The MCTA decided to resort to cease work and observe black flag day on August 24 and August 25 respectively. The MCTA will take out a rally from St Anthony’s School ground on September 5, a day which is celebrated as Teacher’s Day.

A member of the MCTA said, “We will continue our agitation till our demands are met.”

The Association has been demanding implementation of the revised pay scales as per the recommendations of the Fourth Pay Commission for the teachers of the ad hoc, grant-in-aid colleges and release of arrears.
