Shillong: The All Garo Hills Muster Roll Workers’ Union (AGHMRWU) has urged the State Government to fulfill their ‘five-point charter of demands’ immediately.

The AGHMRWU on Wednesday submitted a letter to the Deputy Chief Minister In-charge of Labour, Rowell Lyngdoh in this regard.

The ‘five-point charter of demands’ include an increase in daily wages, regularisation of muster roll workers, adequate supply of liveries, benefits like pension and gratuity and compensation on national and state holidays.

In a press statement issued here on Thursday, the president of the AGHMRWU Rohinath Sangma said “After four months that the demands have been put forth, no step has been taken by the government till date”.

Sangma said the State Government had agreed to accord ‘regular casual workers’ status those muster roll workers who have completed 10 years of service by amending the ‘Meghalaya Regular Casual Workers’ Benefit Scheme, 1996 but till date, no step or action has been taken in this connection.
