SHILLONG: A rare celestial event awaits onlookers on Saturday midnight when planet Mars will appear in the sky almost as large as the full moon to the naked eye. A local astronomer on Friday said that on Saturday (August 27) Mars will come within 34.65 million miles of the earth due to which it will appears as if the sky has two moons. The rare event can be best viewed at midnight on a clear sky. The next time that Mars may come this close to the earth is in 2287.
