Training for Task Force groups under disaster risk reduction held

 TURA: The BAKDIL NGO run Community managed Disaster Risk Reduction project (CMDRR) facilitated By Caritas Germany and Caritas India organizations recently organized a two day Training for the Task Force Groups ( TFGs) of ten villages under Selsella Block of West Garo Hills.

All Ten Villages fall under the flood prone area of Selsella region.

Among the seven newly formed Task Force Groups in the ten villages, Rescue group and First Aid Group were provided with the first line of training and the program was held at the village level itself.

The villages that benefited from the training were Shangkarpara, Berberi, Sampalgre, Salbilla 2, Salbilla 3, Wakantagre, Karigaon, Mangrugre at Salbilla 3 village, Balachanda and Khalpara.

The Training was conducted by the Civil Defense and Home Guard department of West Garo Hills.

The resource persons for the training were Asst. Deputy Controller of Civil Defence, Minora R Marak and ADM of Home Guard Mr. Kemraj Dehal and the staff of Civil Defense.

During the program participants were enlightened on the use of available materials and resources for rescue during the hazardous situation.

Different techniques and methods of using available ropes to rescue the victims were also demonstrated.

Preparation of stretcher by available blankets and bamboos, use of first aid and keeping in position victims of calamity for shifting to hospital, were some of the highlights of the training program.
