SHILLONG: Nongkrem legislator Ardent Basaiawmoit has said the ‘victory’ of Anna Hazare has given a new dimension to his ‘clean politics campaign’ in the State.

“We could see people throughout the country are supporting Hazare’s demand for a strong Lok Pal Bill to fight corruption. My campaign has also been in the same line,” Basaiawmoit said in a statement issued here on Monday.

He said, “I have a feeling that in one way or the other everyone has been the victim of the prevailing corrupt system. I personally feel that one way to fight corruption is to clean our political system”.

Basaiawmoit, however, admitted it would be a tough task to make people understand that the only way to have an overall growth in the State is to make the political system corruption free.

People now have a better understanding about the evils of corruption, he said hoping that more people would join his campaign.
