Keating swims Irish sea for charity
London: Ronan Keating has completed a marathon swim across the Irish Sea for charity. The former Boyzone singer and his relay team, which included Olympic medalist swimmer Stephen Parry, touched land on a beach in Wicklow, Ireland Thursday, reports dailystar.co.uk. They began their 90-km swim in aid of Cancer Research Britain and the Marie Keating Foundation, in Holyhead, Wales, Tuesday night. (IANS)
Winslet excited to work with Polanski
London: Actress Kate Winslet says she is excited to be working with Roman Polanski in his new film Carnage because she is a big fan of the legendary director. “When Roman Polanski invites you to join him in any project you don’t really say no. I felt extremely fortunate to be included,” contactmusic.com quoted Winslet as saying. The movie, based on the hit Broadway play God of Carnage, stars Winslet, Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly and Christoph Waltz as two sets of parents who meet up after their kids brawl at school. (IANS)
Madonna impresses beau’s mom
London: Pop star Madonna took the family of her beau dancer Brahim Zaibat on a 50,000-pound holiday to France. The singer took the 24-year-old’s mother Patricia Vidal and five cousins for a holiday to southern France before heading for the Venice Film Festival. She paid for their stay in a posh hotel, reports thesun.co.uk. “Madonna went all out to impress Brahim’s mum and his cousins. She told them all to order whatever they liked – which they couldn’t believe as the bill for one meal alone came to more than a thousand pounds,” said a source. The two families, including Madonna’s daughter Lourdes, also went clubbing together at the Palais nightclub in Cannes. (IANS)
Susan Boyle to be part of reality show
London: Singer Susan Boyle is set to be a part of a reality show that will follow her life in Scotland. Boyle will appear in a documentary to show how little she has changed since shooting to fame with “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2009. The footage would follow her in her hometown Blackburn, West Lothian, carrying out everyday tasks such as grocery shopping and attending church, reports femalefirst.co.uk. “Despite the fact she’s had this enormous success in record sales, she wanted to show her fans she’s still the same Susan. She still lives in the same house and has a normal life,” a source told Daily Record newspaper. “Since the beginning of 2011, she has been filmed for a fly-on-the-wall documentary about her life,” the source added. No cosmetic surgery for Mel C
London: Former Spice Girl Melanie C admits she is “frightened” of cosmetic surgery but doesn’t judge people who go under the knife to alter their looks. The singer also thinks people can go “too far” with such cosmetic procedures, reports femalefirst.co.uk. “Cosmetic surgery frightens me a little bit – people go too far and sometimes it goes wrong but I wouldn’t judge those who want it done. I’ve not had it done myself,” said Mel C. However, the 37-year-old has several tattoos and admits she regrets some of them. “I regret some of them. I was very young and I’ve changed a lot since then, plus some of them are in prominent places,” she said, adding she had a tough time covering the body art while she was appearing in London stage production Blood Brothers. “When I did Blood Brothers on stage I had to cover them up, which was a messy job involving acrylic paint and glue,” Mel C said. Wolverine script to be rewritten
Los Angeles: The script to the Hugh Jackman starrer superhero sequel Wolverine will be rewritten by ‘Total Recall’ scribe Mark Bomback. As the film’s shoot got delayed due to the tsunami in Japan, Jackman began shooting for Tom Hooper’s new version of Les Miserables. Meanwhile, director James Mangold decided to get the script redone, Variety reported. Bomback, the man behind Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer and Len Wiseman’s Total Recall, has been brought on to rewrite Christopher McQuarrie’s script for 20th Century film. Jackman is set to reprise his role as the mutant hero in the action film. (PTI)
Jessica Simpson to launch skin care range
London: Singer-actress Jessica Simpson is ready to release a skin care range, after announcing plans to launch her first jewellery collection. Simpson is partnering with shopping site Beautymint.com and celebrity aesthetician Nerida Joy for the anti-ageing range, reports femalefirst.co.uk. Simpson has earlier launched shoes, clothes, accessories and fragrances under her name. (IANS)
Aguilera sells Hollywood house at loss
London: Singer Christina Aguilera has sold her California mansion at a loss of more than $300,000. The 30-year-old singer purchased the Hollywood Hills home for $5 million in 2003, and spent heavily on extensive remodelling projects. She put the house on sale with a listing price of $7.9 million but managed to get only $4.65 million, reports contcatmusic.com. The estate features four bedrooms and seven bathrooms as well as a spa, a recording studio and a pool. (IANS)
