Daily in Sumi dialect hit the stand in Nagaland

Kohima: Putting another feather in Nagaland media, ‘Sümi Zümulhü’, a daily for the Sümi Naga dialect was launched at Naharbari Dimapur on Saturday.

Speaking at the launching program, editor and publisher of Sümi Zümulhü, Inato Shikhu said the main aim of publishing the daily was to cultivate the importance of culture and identity of Sümis.

He said the present society has uprooted themselve from the culture and identity inherited from the forefathers and added the daily was an attempt to contribute ”something” to the society and community in rebuilding and rediscovering the lost culture before it degenerates. He further expressed hope that the daily would be a medium for interaction for the Sümi community. Earlier, the daily was dedicated by Rev Vitoshe Swu. (UNI)

Cultural workshop

Kohima: A district-level cultural workshop on Saakshar Bharat programme, organised by the State Research Centre (SRC), Tripura in collaboration with State Level Mission Authority (SLMA), Nagaland was held on September 1 and 2 at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Mon.

According to official sources here today, the Senior Program Coordinator of SRC Tripura, Swapan Chandra, and Cultural Officer of SRC Tripura, Johar Deb Nath, were the resources persons who spoke on cultural programme as the main tools of environment building and about cultural activities.

Also speaking on the occasion, the District Nodal Officer of Mon, E Maopong Konyak, said SLMA and DLMA were pleased to know about the proposal of engagement as district block coordinator at model Adult Education Centre (AEC) within the district headquarter and expressed hope that with the assistances of SRC Tripura, the Saakshar Bharat Programme in the district and the state would be successful.

The program was attended by the six coordinators of the six blocks under Mon district; two Cultural Volunteers from each block; six Supervisors and officials from Education Department. (UNI)

Council of Nagalim appeals for prayer for Naga nation

Kohima: The Council of Nagalim Churches has appealed to all to pray and fast for the Naga Nation coming on Sunday at the Council headquarters in Hebron.

In a statement here today, CNC vice-president P S Vaison Vemai informed that the prayer points are sins of the Nagas, Naga reconciliation and unity, Indian authorities, collective leadership of NSCN-IM, Naga public leaders and Church leaders and early political solution.

The CNC informed that the collective leadership has directed the Steering Committee members, all the Council of Kilonsers (ministers), Tatars (MPs) and Secretariat staff to come to the Council Headquarter Church Hebron for fasting and prayer. All brigades, battalions, units or regional offices have also been requested to conduct fasting and prayer in their respective places. (UNI)
