Chennai: A 32-year-old woman was arrested by the police for making an anonymous call that bombs would explode at AIADMK Supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s residence, on Saturday.

Police said the woman, Tamizhselvi, who was deserted by her husband, was arrested from suburban Maraimalainagar.

The woman who was feeling dejected wanted to teach her husband a lesson and made the prank call.

On September one, she called up the control room and said bombs would explode at the Chief Minister’s Poes Garden residence in the city.

Police and bomb-detection squad personnel along with sniffer dogs made a thorough search and later found that it was a hoax call.

The woman had made the call from the mobile number used by her husband Arul Das.

Police traced the number to Cuddalore where the SIM card was purchased but the call signals were recorded at Maraimalaingar tower.

A special police team rushed to Cuddalore and questioned Arul Das who admitted that the number was used by him earlier and it was now being used by his estranged wife living at Maraimalainagar. (UNI)
