AP fisheries minister visits hydro project

Itanagar: Fisheries and Industries Minister Tako Dabi along with his departmental officers on Saturday visited Ranganadi hydro electrical project at Yazali in Papum Pare district to explore the possibilities of stocking river dolphin in the reservoir.

After interacting with the local leaders and NEEPCO officers, Dabi asked the project authorities to chalk out mechanism to retain the stock of fish in the reservoir whenever excess water is released, official sources said here today. “The scientists will study all aspects of the reservoir for possible stocking of river dolphin,” he said. The minister suggested the department of fisheries and NEPCO project officials to put joint efforts in developing fisheries in the reservoir and beautify the project so as to attract the tourist from the country and aboard. Emphasising the importance of tourism, the minister suggested the local panchayat leaders and people to put maximum efforts in developing horticulture on highly enterprising method and food processing plant to create headway in flow of tourists and enhance local economy.
