Advocate assaulted
Itanagar: An adovate was assaulated after being kidnapped form his house by members of some youth associations, police said on Sunday.
Police soon rescued Taba Tagum whose chamber was also ransacked when he was assaulted on Saturday. He was addmitted to hospital.
Police has registered a case and launched a drive to arrest the attackers. (PTI)
Minor student abducted
Kohima: A nine-year-old body was kidnapped by unidentified miscreants from the busy Circular Road area of the town here.
According to official sources here today, the boy, identified as Ankush Jha, son of Natottam Jha, a manager in Hero Honda Show Room in Notun Bosti, was walking, along with two friends when two miscreants adbducted Ankush.
Official sources revealed that the abducted victim Ankush was bedridden with typhoid for the past two weeks.
Investigation was on to rescue the boy and to apprehend the miscreants, police said. (UNI)
Body recovered
Agartala: The Agartala police has recovered a decomposed body last evening from VIP enclave of the city, a few yards away from Director General of Police and Chief Secretary’s official residence. On Saturday, the security forces had launched a search operation in the nearby ditch and recovered the decomposed body. Initial investigation had revealed that the body was that of a 60-year-old male person, said East Agartala police officials, adding that investigation was still on. (UNI)
Mongmong festival
Kohima: The Sangtam Naga Community of Nagaland has started celebrating its premier festival ‘Mongmong’ with fun and fervour throughout the state.
One of the most important festivals of the Sangtam Naga tribe, Mongmong festival that began yesterday is celebrated to invoke God’s blessings for a bountiful harvest.
Mongmong is also a time to reconcile with family, friends and God and the festival lasts for six days.
Mongmong, which means togetherness in Sangtam Naga dialect, is observed in the first week of September every year and the festival is held in honour of ‘Lijaba’, the creator of the universe, to invoke His blessings for a bountiful harvest.

Rs 1lakh to those who make it to Guiness Book
Guwahati: (PTI) Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today declared that his government would provide Rs one lakh as incentive to anyone from the state who finds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Gogoi made this announcement while congratulating Apuraj Barooah who made it to the Guiness Book of World Records earlier this year for his longest bromide scratch art feat. The chief minister announced Rs one lakh as recognition of Barooah’s rare feat and said his achievement will motivate and inspire many youngsters to excel in different spheres of life. (PTI)
