SHILLONG: Fashion designer Daniel Syiem’s ‘Ethnic ’ Fashion House was inaugurated by the Speaker of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Mr. Charles Pyngrope, on Saturday last.

The Ethnic Fashion House, a joint venture of Daniel Syiem and Janessaline Mary Pyngrope. is the first Fashion House in the State.

Speaking on the occasion, Charles Pyngrope stressed that “The very identity of a society depends entirely on its culture, its tradition, its values and also its clothes”. In view of this, he said having an Ethnic Fashion House in State was very significant which had been long overdue.

The fashion house focuses in promoting the ethnicity of the North Eastern Culture, using materials that have been derived from the various ethnic groups of Meghalaya in particular and of the entire Northeast and turn them into products that are wearable and have a command in the market, stated Janessaline.

Daniel and Janessaline hoped that the venture heralds a new beginning with the fabrics and colours of Meghalaya and the entire Northeast .
