JOWAI: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) Southern Riwar Circle in Jaintia Hills has demanded extension of Dawki Public Health Centre (PHC).

The HNYF Circle General Secretarty, Tarzan Lamba informed that a team of the HNYF activists had recently inspected the PHC and found that the OPD rom is too congested and needs a bigger room to accomodate all patients.

Though the health centre is giving good service to the poor people in the area, it is not providing food to the patients who are admitted in the 10- bedded PHC.

“We feel that the government should provide an additional room and a cook in the PHC”, the HNYF said.

Meanwhile, the HNYF NRC lauded the doctors and staffs of the PHC for their services to the poor .

“The good services provided by the PHC has attracted patients not only from Dawki area of Jaintia Hills but also from many villages of East Khasi Hills such as Umsyiem, Umkrem, Pongtung and others”, Lamba said adding that,

“The PHC covers mostly the malaria prone area and patient with symptoms of malaria got a blood test report within two hours and this very helpful to patients”.

The HNYF also informed that during an interaction with many patients at the PHC, they expressed their happiness over the performance of the doctors and staffs of the PHC.
