Revision of electoral rolls

 SHILLONG: The Election Department, Government of Meghalaya has notified that a special summary revision of electoral rolls with reference to January 1, 2012 as qualifying date and the draft photo electoral rolls will be published by the Electoral Registration Officers on October 1, 2011. Copies of the draft photo electoral rolls will be available in the office of all Deputy Commissioner (Elections), Sub Divisional Officers (Elections) and will also be displayed at all polling stations.

Any inclusion or objection of a particular name in the electoral rolls with reference to the qualifying date may be lodged in either Form 6, 7 and 8, as appropriate, before the concerned Electoral Registration Officers between the period of October 1 to November 1, 2011. Form will be available free of cost at the offices of the Electoral Registration Officers, Election Offices and Polling Stations.

The Election Department has fixed important dates for this. Reading of relevant part, section of photo electoral rolls in Gram Sabha, Local Bodies and RWA meetings and verification of names, on October 8 and 11; special campaign dates with booth level agents of political parties on October 9, 16 and 23; disposal of claims and objections by December 1; updating the database, merging of photographs and preparation and printing of supplementary list from December 1 to 31 with final publication of electoral rolls on January 5, 2012.
