NECC meeting

 SHILLONG: The North East Congress Committee (NECC) has decided to bring to the notice of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi about the insurgency and the law and order problem in the region.

The decision was taken during its meet chaired by its chairman and former Chief Minister DD Lapang which was held in the city on Tuesday.

Apart from the insurgency and law and order problem, NEEC general secretary AS Arthur, in a statement said that the NECC also discussed on various important issues regarding development of the North East particularly road, rail and air connectivity, healthcare and education.

The NECC are expected to discuss these various issues further in its general body meeting to be held at New Delhi shortly where all the CMs, CLP Leaders, President PCCs, the MPs, AICC Secretary in charge of North East and the office bearers of NECC will be attending, Arthur added.
