Bird flu detected in Assam

Guwahati: Bird flu virus was on Saturday confirmed to have been detected in Assam’s Dhubri district, where culling of birds have already started. District veterinary department officials confirmed the outbreak of the avian flu in Agomoni area of the district, bordering Bangladesh. Blood samples and carcasses were sent for testing at Guwahati and Bhopal after a large number of chickens were mysteriously found dead in the area. The test reports that came in late last evening confirmed avian flu as the cause of the death of the birds. (UNI)
