Jammu: Sounds of laughter echoed everywhere inside the closed walls as hundreds of inmates on Saturday participated in a day-long ‘Laughter Therapy’ inside Central Jail at Kot Bhalwal on the city outskirts.

Jail authorities organised a day-long session of ‘laughter therapy’ in collaboration with ‘Haysa Yog Kendra’ from Delhi, which was enthusiastically attended by the young and the old inmates.

‘Hasya Yog’ Guru Jiten Kohi shared laughter tips among the inmates and also presented demonstration of various yoga techniques to lead a happy and stress-free life.

“Life nowadays is full of depression, tension and stress and people hardly get any time to laugh, which has made life more complicated,” Mr Kohi told UNI.

He said the aim of the Kendra is to provide stress-free life to the people adding, “laughter is the best medicine and it not only makes life happier but also helps in fighting minor ailments.”

“Jail inmates live in tension and stress and such camps are being organised inside the jail with an aim to provide them some tips so that they apply them in their day to day life and feel good,” the ‘Hasya Guru’ said.

The Kendra was formed 12 years ago and besides jail inmates, it has also benefitted many politicians, bureaucrats and other dignitaries from their stressed lives, he added.

‘Laughter Therapy’, would help the inmates a lot in refreshing their life style and channelising their energies in a positive direction, Superintendent Jail Rajni Sehgal said. (UNI)
