Shillong: State Director General of Police (DGP) N Ramachandran on Friday remained tight-lipped over the looting of arms by GNLA militants from East Garo Hills district Range forest office at Chidekgre about five kilometers away from Williamnagar in East Garo Hills on Monday night last, saying police were still investigating into the incident.

“Until the investigation is completed it would be premature on my part to comment anything on this incident,” Ramachandran told reporters here on Friday.

When asked if there were possibilities of the forest guards being in connivance with the militants, he said it would be difficult to say anything at this juncture.

It is reported that the forest guards did not make any kind of attempt to prevent the GNLA cadres from escaping with the arms.
