SHILLONG: In yet another case of violence against women in the state, one Arunachalee girl received injuries mainly in her neck and throat when one Bengia Anthony of Arunachal Pradesh attempted to rape and murder her at Urmasijoh village near Smit on the night of October 7.
It is known that the girl was kidnapped by Anthony after which he took her to Lad Smit and attempted to rape and murder her when two people from the neighboring area came to her rescue and handed her to her family members.
In an FIR filed by the victim at Madanriting Police station on the same night, the girl mentioned that she received scratches while fighting against Anthony.
However, it is learnt that many people are trying to blame it on the girl just to save the boy who is influential, and even tried to blamethe two boys who had saved her.
Meanwhile, condemning the incident, the CSWO urged the authorities to take stern action as per law against the accused.
The CSWO also felt it necessary to send the copy of medical test reports to the victims of all cases of rape and assault citing that these should not be kept secret especially from the victims and their relatives.
“Postmortem reports too, of murder cases should not take so much time and the Government should see that a specific time line is given, so that the reports of postmortems are immediately given to relatives”, CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiing stated in a release here on Sunday.
The CSWO also lauded the efforts of the two persons who had saved the girl from the clutches of Bengia Anthony.
The culprit has been arrested by the police and investigation is still going on in this regard.
