Three hurt in separate road mishaps in city

 SHILLONG: One Borstarwell Sohtun (32), son of Wastar Mawa of Tuk Puriang was injured after he was allegedly knocked down by a tourist taxi (Tata Indica) bearing the number ML04 A 1479 at Mawryngkneng at around 8.20am on Tuesday.

According to the police, the injured was immediately taken to Shillong Hospital by the driver of the Tata Indica itself.

In another incident, one Biki Sangma (10), son of Nabin Joshi, resident of Lower Mawprem was hit by a tourist cab, Tata Sumo (ML05 C 8329) at around 12.30pm at Dhobighat Junction near Rilbong point here on Tuesday.

The boy received minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the police have apprehended the driver and the vehicle but after compromising with the boy’s parents, the driver of the tourist cab was released.

One Phool Mala Biswas (70) wife of (L) N Biswas of Bholaganj, near Dawki was knocked down by a BSF vehicle on Tuesday.

According to the police, the elderly woman was brought to Shillong Civil Hospital later by the BSF personnel as her ankle was badly injured.

In an assault case, one Hari Prasad Gupta was assaulted by a group of miscreants at 4th Furlong, Polo here on Tuesday.

According to the police, Prasad was trying to help another person who was assaulted by the same group and in return was beaten up wherein he received minor injuries on the head as he was hit by a stone.

The miscreants fled the scene right after Prasad was hurt.

The injured person was immediately rushed to the Shillong Civil Hospital.
