SHILLONG: People’s strive to make Shillong a plastic-free city was noticed at Khyndai Lad here on Saturday where a large number of people were seen participating in the street demonstration at Police Bazar organised by the Partners of Pla (PP) Iew Club.

The PP Club organised the demonstration with an aim to spread awareness on the use of eco friendly materials instead of plastic bags. People were seen carrying placards like “Save mother earth, stop using plastic” and shouted slogans on the harmful effects of using plastic bags.

The SMB has warned that violators who are found using plastic bags would be fined.
