GNLA kidnaps Hindi teacher

 TURA: Even as East Garo Hills police achieved a victory against GNLA militants by gunning down the deputy area commander of the outfit’s central command at Nengmandalgre village, 5 kms from Williamnagar on Tuesday morning, another group of insurgents from the same outfit kidnapped a Hindi school teacher from the border belt in South Garo Hills late Monday night.

Three suspected GNLA militants called out higher the teacher K Mishra from his house in Dumnikura village and took him away in the dead of night. The suspected militants called him out at approximately 11:30 pm. His whereabouts remain unknown.

The victim was a government teacher in Kapasipara Higher Secondary School.

Dumnikura village is located between Gasuapara and Sibbari towns of South Garo Hills.The area is a hotbed for militant activity and also a prime location for insurgents who use the route for crossing to and fro neighboring Bangladesh.

No one has been arrested in this connection so far.
