Subramanian Swamy to visit Jammu
Jammu: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy will visit this winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday to conduct meetings of the party leaders and activists. “Dr Swamy will visit Jammu tomorrow to address a series of meetings of state party cadre besides attending a seminar on Accession Day,” party sources here told UNI. They said the Janata Party chief would deliver a special lecture on “Accession” and also review party’s functioning in the state. (UNI)
3 kids drown in MP
Shahdol: Three children have drowned in separate incidents during the past 24 hours, police said. Vivek Singh, a standard two students of Central School here, fell into a river and drowned while he was returning from school yesterday. In another incident, Kapil and Namdev also drowned in a well in Jodhpur village on Friday. (UNI)
Woman raped by employer
Ghaziabad: A Nepali woman working as a domestic help was allegedly raped by her employer here, an NGO working for safeguarding the interest of the people from the community said on Saturday. According to NGO Nepal Help Mission, the woman was repeatedly raped by her employer Mukesh in the absence of his wife since August. The NGO member Kavi Karvi claimed also approached the police but no action was taken. Later after the invention of Nepal Embassy, Ghaziabad SSP has ordered to register a complaint against Mukesh. Kit to check milk adulteration
Hisar (Haryana): Teachers of a government-run veterinary university here have developed a simple technique to check milk adulteration. “Scientists at Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences has developed ‘Milk Urea Detection Kit’ to detect milk adulteration,” College of Veterinary Sciences dean A K Pruthi said today. A drop of milk urea detection reagent (a pink coloured chemical) when mixed with a drop of milk on a filter paper the colour of the chemical changes to yellow if the milk contains urea, he said. 10 children injured in road mishap
Ghaziabad: Ten school students were injured when an auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling was hit by a car, which was being driven by son of a Uttar Pradesh Police official, police said here on Saturday. The mishap occurred yesterday at Pratap Vihar area when the chilAdren were on way back to home from school, they said. The car was being driven by the son of a UP police sub inspector. The accused assured parents of the children thQQat he will bear all medical expenses of the victims following which they did not lodged any FIR, police said. (PTI)
Unidentified men attack UP official
Azamgarh (UP): A revenue department official was allegedly shot at by unidentified persons here, officials said here on Saturday. Rajmangal Yadav (45), posted as lekhpal, was shot at by some unidentified persons at Mubarakpur area yesterday, circle officer Yogendra Kumar said. He was rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to Varanasi after his condition deteriorated. (PTI)
Rapist gets life term
Muzaffarnagar (UP): A local court on Saturday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for abduction and rape of a baby girl, which caused her death. The additional district sessions judge P C Srivastava also imposed a fine of Rs 65,000 on 20-year-old Amit Kumar. According to the prosecution, Amit abducted the one-and-a -half year old girl last year and raped her, leading to the minor’s death. In another case, the court sentenced four people to seven years of imprisonment in a case of cow slaughter. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 each on them for slaughtering cows at Doletpur village in June 29, 2009. (PTI)
Couple commits suicide
Lucknow: A couple committed suicide after an altercation broke out between them over a domestic issue here, police said on Saturday. The incident took place yesterday at Khesrawa Bakshi Ka Talab area. 32-year-old Sunita consumed poison after a heated argument with her husband Balla (34), police said. She was rushed to a hospital where she died during treatment. Later, Balla also committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree, police said. (PTI)
Three of family killed in fire
New Delhi: Three members of a family, including a six-year-old boy, were burnt to death in a fire caused by a leaking LPG cylinder at their Old Delhi home, a fire official said. “The incident took place at around 8.30 a.m. The family of three was burnt to death because of the fire caused by the gas cylinder leakage,” the fire official said. The victims, including a 35-year-old man and his 30-year-old wife, resided on the second floor of the house in Lal Kuan in Old Delhi. (IANS)
