Assam truckers call off Chakka bandh against Nagaland

Kohima: The Mokokchung District Truck Owners Association and the Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industries have said that the ‘chakka bandh’ enforced by the Hills Area Truck Owners Association along Mokokchung-Mariani road since October 17 has been lifted.

In a joint statement issued last night signed by MCCI Vice-President Moasangba Jamir and MDTOA President A.Bendang Jamir stated that the two organizations had extended support and solidarity to the HATOA in the matter.

They further said the Officer in Command of the BRO unit at Mon met with the truckers at Mariani in Assam on Tuesday and assured in writing that the road will be repaired ‘at the earliest possible time before the end of this winter’. (PTI)
