New Delhi: He is presently the world’s second best double trap shooter, but rankings hardly excites Ronjan Sodhi, who is eyeing a medal in his maiden Olympics in London next year.
“For me rankings are momentary. It keeps on changing. What is important is to win a medal (at world stage),” said the Asian Games gold medallist.
Sodhi made a jump of six places to be on the second spot in double trap rankings recently after he became the first Indian shooter to successfully defend his World Cup title, at Al Ain last month.
“My only mantra is commitment and I give my 100 per cent whenever I am representing India,” said the ace marksman.
“The last two years have been very good for me and I would like to carry on my form (to the Olympics).”
Sodhi also expects a big Indian shooting contingent in London.
“There are still four competitions left in the run up to the Olympics. You have the Asian Championships in January where I am expecting 6-7 Indian shooters to qualify,” he said during the signing of MoU between the Indian Olympic Association and digital technology giant, Samsung India Electronics for the London Games.
“I am hoping for 2-3 medals from shooting (in London Olympics),” he added. (PTI)
