Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Nagaland rescheduled

Kohima: The proposed visit of AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi to Nagaland on November 8 has been rescheduled the next day owing to cancellation of his Manipur itinerary.

According to a statement issued by Nagaland Youth Congress (NYC) president K Shohe, as per the new schedule, the Gandhi family scion will first hold an interaction with youths at the Dimapur Town Hall in the morning and then address a public meeting at the DDSC Stadium. His interaction with the youths at the Town Hall is aimed at registering youths, aged between 18 and 35, to the party.

The NYC said due to security reason around 800 registered youth Congress members would be allowed to attend the interaction programme on a first-come basis.

According to party sources hectic preparations are on for Rahul’s visit.

Meanwhile, an Indian Air Force Cargo plane carrying at least 15 Special Protection Group (SPG) Commando personnel, four high tech detector vehicles, two security jammer vehicles, one bullet proof vehicle and several other security equipment had landed at Dimapur Air Port for Mr Gandhi’s security.

National secretary of Indian Youth Congress and in-charge Nagaland Mahendran, along with Lok Sabha Returning Officer (LRO) Shuja Gandhi, LRO Abu Sharma, PRO Deepak Rathour and LRO Rajeev Kumar are already camping in Dimapur. (UNI)
