St.Edmund’s, Shillong College register wins

SHILLONG: Shillong College defeated St.Anthony’s College by 35 runs while St.Edmund’s College thrashed Synod College by 78 runs in the ongoing Inter College Cricket Tournament 2011 at the Cricket ground, Polo on Monday.

In the first match, Shillong College won the toss and elected to bat first.

The batsmen did well to negotiate with the wicket as they scored 111 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Maniram scored 29 runs of 42 balls while Anup from St Anthony’s bowled a tidy spell to take two wickets for 18 runs .

In reply, St.Anthony’s made a shaky start to collapse for a paultry score of 76 in 18.1 overs. For Shillong College, Sanjeev bowled an excellent spell to bag four wickets for 15 runs in four overs.

In the second match of the day, St.Edmunds College won the toss and elected to bat first.

The Edmund’s batsmen put up a competitive total of scored 125 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Swarajeet Das scored 34 off 39 balls and Rohan Pandey scored 29 off 25 balls.

In reply Synod College were bundled out for 47 runs in 14.3 overs. Rohan Pandey displayed an all round performance to bag four wickets for the winning Edmund’s team.
