Free training prog

 SHILLONG: The coaching-cum-guidance Centre for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will conduct 14 days free training programme for SC/ST candidates preparing to appear in the Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination , 2011 to be conducted by the Staff Selection Commission on December 4th.

The training will commence from 14th November to December 2nd from 10.30 am to 3.00 pm.

 SHILLONG: The member of Ladies and Children’s Recreational Centre, Stoneyland in an emergent meeting under the presidentship of Zeenat Ali on Monday condoled the death of Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

Meanwhile, the Shillong Nepali Sangeet Kala Samity paid tributes and condoled the demise of Dr Bhupen Hazarika – who was closely associated with the Samity.

The members prayed for his eternal peace and for solace to the bereaved family members.

 Strike

 SHILLONG: The Bhartiya Khadya Nigam Karmachari Sangh (BKNKS) and Food Corporation of India Executive Staff Union (FCIESU) observed the first phase of strike on Wednesday in Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram along with the rest of the country against the indifferent attitude of FCI top management as well as the Ministry of Food.

The regional secretary appealed to make the next phase of strike to take place on November 17 and 18 a success.
